image17.jpgEly, the "Canoe Capital of the World," is your gateway to the one of the most beautiful and pristine locations on Earth—The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park. Ely is surrounded by the Superior National Forest, a land of 2,021 lakes. Superior National Forest also boasts 1,975 miles of streams. The BWCAW contains one thousand lakes over 10 acres in size that are accessible by water.

When visiting Ely, be sure and visit the International Wolf Center and the North American Bear Center. These complexes examine some of the most elusive and misunderstood animals in the world. You will learn about the natural history of wolves or bears through demonstrations, exhibits, hands-on activities and other adventures.
