image17.jpgEly, the "Canoe Capital of the World," is your gateway to the one of the most beautiful and pristine locations on Earth—The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park. Ely is surrounded by the Superior National Forest, a land of 2,021 lakes. Superior National Forest also boasts 1,975 miles of streams. The BWCAW contains one thousand lakes over 10 acres in size that are accessible by water. Your hosts at Garden Lake Resort will be happy to give you all the information you need for a successful hunting, fishing, or camping experience.

Ely hosts a multitude of special events throughout the year for the pleasure of all who visit our area. The Blueberry Arts Festival, Harvest Moon Festival, and the Voyageur Winter Festival are only a few. To view an events calendar for the Ely area, please click here.

When visiting Ely, be sure and visit the International Wolf Center and the North American Bear Center. These complexes examine some of the most elusive and misunderstood animals in the world. You will learn about the natural history of wolves or bears through demonstrations, exhibits, hands-on activities and other adventures.
